We enjoy celebrating Christmas here at Linton Netball Club, through Christmas tournaments, Christmas meals and Christmas shenanigans at training! We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Well done to everyone on a fantastic season. Bring on next year!
Linton 3: Player of the Year: Amanda Most Improved: Amelia Unsung Hero: Lisa
Another year, another tour! This time, we decided to travel to Great Yarmouth and compete in Sports Tour's netball tournament. We had great fun, socially, and enjoyed the netball played too - we even met Mikki Austin, who coached us during one game! To say our coach, Angela, was excited, was an understatement...
Here are some of the highlights:
- The first year of sponsorship from Strategy Consultation and The Dog and Duck Pub, supporting the order of our new club dresses - The first season of having Linton 3 - A growing junior section, who have stepped up to play adult netball too - Christmas fun, games and fundraisers - Supporting breast cancer research by wearing pink - All 3 adult teams playing on the same date, at the same time, twice! - Linton 1 finishing in the top 4 in their first season of Division 1 in the CDNL Winter League Thank you everyone for making this season a special one and good luck to all those who are moving on from the club, whether that is for university or other commitments!
At the beginning of December, Linton Netball Club had their annual Christmas meal, this year being at The Flying Shuttle in Haverhill. Great food and great company made the evening, and to top it off we all ended up leaving with a Christmassy light-up headband and Christmas rubber duck from our social committee! Some members have chose to displayed the rubber ducks around their homes, even in their Christmas tree!
At the end of December, some members from the club attended The Julia Cup 2022 to raise money for charity. Many teams chose to wear fancy dress, Linton included, who became Santas and an Elf for the evening! It was a fun-filled evening, with many laughs, all for a good cause. Well done and thank you to Swift's Netball Club for holding a wonderful competition in memory of one of their own players. It has been 5 months, 2 weeks, 3 days, 1 hour, and 2 minutes since we finished our last outdoor training session prior to lockdown. The club has worked extremely hard to keep in contact with all of our members during these unexpected times, through social media, virtual game evenings and regular zoom fitness sessions, which proved to be a big hit!
It has now come to that point where we can return to training! England Netball have now reached stage 4 of their "Return to Netball" roadmap, meaning that we can commence our in-person training sessions. We are excited in taking this next step and cannot wait to welcome back our members. All safety measures have been put in place and communicated to our members to ensure the safe return to the sport we all love. This marks the start of a new season! #riseagain
Over the past few months, Linton Netball Club have taken part in a couple of different social activities.
We had our Christmas meal, held at The Black Bull in Balsham, on Saturday 14th December 2019. We all sat down for a 3 course meal and enjoyed all the festivities The Black Bull had for us! Everyone had a lovely evening, filled with lots of food, washed down with many drinks and laughs. We thank The Black Bull for their hospitality and we hope to return soon. Additionally, on Sunday 26th January 2020, 15 members of the club travelled to the Copper Box Arena in Stratford to watch England Netball Team compete in the Vitality Nations Cup. Unfortunately England didn't make the final, but our group managed to witness the 3rd place play off and the final of this cup. The first match was between England and South Africa, where England managed to steal the win, 65-63. The second match was between New Zealand and Jamaica, where New Zealand held on their title by winning 67-56. Everyone who went really enjoyed the experience, especially as it was a first time seeing the England Netball Team play for a couple of our members! Until next time... What a season Linton Netball Club has had! To celebrate the end of this season, we spent the evening playing fun matches and awarding those in both teams for their efforts. Congratulations to all those who picked up awards on the night. It really was a special moment for the club! Below are the award winners: Biggest Contribution: Julia
A special appreciation thank you goes to Julia, Angela, Lisa, Annie and Kim for all their hard work over the season, whether that is through coaching or from behind the scenes! How amazing is it that the Netball World Cup is in our home nation! The NWC 2019 is currently underway in Liverpool and 8 of our club members have already visited the city to see all the action, live! Whilst being able to see the opening ceremony, as well as multiple elite netball matches live from the M&S Bank Arena, our members were successful in securing tickets to one of England's matches and continued to support them from the fan park during the rest of their time in Liverpool. England have just qualified for the semi finals, where they will be playing either New Zealand or Australia, depending on where they finish in their group. And so we will continue to support them all the way to the final... Their next battle is against South Africa, tonight at 8pm. Lets all tune in and support England in their quest to the final! |
